The place to be was the inauguration of Yoga and Tutus, because whether you were a working mom or stay at home mom every mother needed to be reminded they were a Goddess! It was a day where moms and daughters interacted with one another and engaged their mind, body and soul. During Yoga and Tutus moms participated in activities with their daughters which included meditation, dancing and re-connection.
...For many years, I’ve lived away from my family and for holidays and special occasions I made a four-hour road trip to my parents’ house quite often and I never thought twice about it. I packed up my car with all my stuff, gassed up at the station and made my way up North to see my family for the holidays.
...We mothers know that our bodies are forever changed as soon as we become a mom, but research shared this year from Arizona State University is showing that a child’s cells cross the placenta and enter the mother’s body and then become part of her tissues and remain a part of her body long after she has given birth.

...We’ve written about Ms. Courtney Jung’s ideas on breastfeeding before (see www.momspumphere.com/blog/entry/fired) but this week we are reacting to her new book “Lactivism: How Feminists and Fundamentalists, Hippies and Yuppies, and Physicians and Politicians Made Breastfeeding Big Business and Bad Policy” (Basic, 258 pages, $26.99) – and we haven’t yet read it entirely.
...The Affordable Care Act (often called Obamacare) was implemented by most insurers on or after August 1 2012. The ACA made free breast pumps available to new moms through their health insurance, a plan intended to take away one of the biggest hurdles for a new mom. For the most part, moms who've taken advantage of this new baby bonus are satisfied.
...Traveling moms don’t have it easy. There’s a lot of coordination that goes into plane traveling with young children or a newborn. You have to think about how you’re going to maneuver the airports (listed in our airport nursing rooms locator) and get your children from point A to point B seamlessly. In a perfect world it would be seamless but moms often have to deal with luggage, strollers, car seats for the plane, entertaining children or keeping a newborn calm during a flight, stares and comments from less than understanding passengers and then the whole fiasco de-boarding. But what if you are a nursing mom? Traveling with kids or not if a mom is nursing she will also need to coordinate time to breastfeed or breast pump.
...New research shows that moms with gestational diabetes can signifcantly lower their chance of developing Type II Diabetes by breastfeeding their baby.
...News broke this week that breast pump manufacturer Medela will be phasing out one of its pumps, the Medela Personal “Double Pump”. This does not mean the product is being recalled or is dangerous, but they have received complaints that this particular pump is not as efficient as its other models such as the highly recommended Pump In Style Advance or the manual Harmony pump.
...New research from England indicates one in three nursing women feels embarrassed to breastfeed outside the home.
