In honor of September being Baby Safety Month, I want to share some non-traditional baby safety tips that can be very helpful.
...We moms know how difficult it can be to find time and places to pump milk for our babies, but imagine how hard that is on teen moms who want to breastfeed. They need to go to school and may only have less than five minutes between classes? Switching to formula is always an option – especially because it seems easier and faster, but California’s teenage mothers may soon be provided with resources to help them continue breastfeeding their children when they return to school.
...A nursing mother was visiting a popular Spanish tourism spot, historic Corral del Carbon monument in Granada, when her nine-month-old began to cry so she decided to feed her baby at her breast.
...A group of approximately 20 women protested at the Hampton Inn of Bordentown, New Jersey early Sunday morning to support breastfeeding mom Ariana Gossard.
...Moms Pump Here’s advertising campaign for National Breastfeeding Month on Facebook this week has been rejected by Facebook’s Ads Team because, according to a Facebook representative (only known as “Kyle”), the image used in the ads does not follow their policy for advertising.
...The trend keeps going! Following announcements earlier this month from Netflix and Microsoft, California-based tech firm Adobe has now also expanded its employee maternity leave for new moms. The new version of their paid leave consists of ten weeks of medical leave and 16 weeks of parental leave, for a total of 26 weeks for the new mom to spend with her growing family.
...The trend continues! Yesterday, Moms Pump Here reported about Netflix’s new parental leave policy and today we are happy to report that Microsoft Corporation has also updated their parental leave policy.
...Streaming service Netflix is setting a new standard for parental leave this week by announcing it will now provide its employees with up to one year of paid leave after the birth or adoption of a child. This new allowance complements the already generous fringe benefits offered by Netflix, such as free meals, lavish salaries, generous stock options and unlimited vacation each year.
...Nursing mothers traveling, working, or residing in Illinois got a big boost from Governor Bruce Rauner this week when he endorsed the law which requires all large airports (listed in our airport nursing rooms locator) to create or add breastfeeding rooms by 2017.
...I believe in signs - signs that tell me I’m on the right path or that I’m doing the right things in my life. Birds are my signs, some other people feel the same way about hearts, butterflies, or pennies found in their path.
...When New York Governor appointed Kirsten Gillibrand to the United States Senate in early 2009 to replace Hillary Clinton’s New York seat in Congress, I felt a connection to her. She was born and raised in Upstate New York, which is where I was born and raised. She also had two young children, and her younger son was born the same year as my oldest son. I found it hard to imagine how a female politician could make it work so gracefully, but she then took it a step further by successfully winning a state-wide special election to maintain her seat in Congress. I thought she was a political woman who was sending working moms into the modern age.
...A woman breastfeeding her child was recently asked to “do it in the bathroom” when she was approached by personnel from Parrot Island Water Park in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
...I think we’ve all been there. Your waitress has just brought your food to the table, you’re about to take your first bite, and a young family sits down in the booth next to yours. Their toddler bumps your seat, reaches for your side of the booth, or is just plain noisy during the meal.
...Support for breastfeeding women is certainly growing. This week, a note on Facebook by the group “Breastfeeding Mama Talk” has sparked even more interest by showing the support breastfeeding women receive from retailer giant Target.
